Eaglettes excel at camp…
The Eaglettes recently attended NDA Dance Camp in Emporia June 8-11. It was a week of hard work, sweat, sore muscles, laughter, fun, secret sis gifts, bad dorm food, team bonding all rolled into one. I was very pleased with the camp and even more so with the girls.
It was great to see such a large group of spectators from Olathe North in Emporia. What a wonderful cheering section! Thank you! It means so much to us!
There were 28 high school teams from Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma attending this camp. They ranged from small to large high schools. There were over 400 girls in attendance. This is not only NDA’s largest camp in the nation, it is their best! We are very fortunate to be exposed to such diverse staff and schools. Those schools attending were Andover, Andover Central, Augusta, Derby, Emporia, Excelsior Springs, Garden City, Gardner Edgerton, Kapaun Mt. Carmel (Wichita), Lawrence, Lee Summit West, Maize, Mill Valley, Olathe North, Olathe Northwest, Oskaloosa, Papillion/LaVista, Park Hill South, Piper, Raytown South, Shawnee Mission East, Shawnee Mission Northwest, Shawnee Mission West, Washburn Rural (Topeka) HS.
I found NDA (National Dance Alliance) to be all around excellent. The staff was incredible. I felt that each staff member was very qualified to be demonstrating and teaching our girls. They knew what they were talking about and could also demonstrate what they were talking about. I appreciated that. As a staff they are held to very high standards, which in turn, holds the girls to higher standards. I also appreciated the values that NDA stressed, which are the values that I have been stressing to the girls since our first practice. My favorite thing was the team focus of this camp. Everything revolved around the team. Each night the camp concluded with some type of inspirational story and some type of team bonding. This was part of camp that was very nice. I could not be more proud of the girls and their effort at camp.
The following is a listing of the team and individual awards the Eaglettes earned at camp:

Again, congratulations to all the girls for a wonderful week. They are a very dedicated and hard working group, which also likes to have a lot of fun! I think we were successful at both! Congratulations! We have just seen the beginning of a great year!
For anyone interested, I have a video of the girls from camp. I videotaped both of their performances, all of their class evaluations, and their top gun tryouts. I will have the video, if anyone would like to borrow it for a few days and then it will be passed on to the next person. E-mail me if you are interested!
